Turning the Page: Keeping gay and trans children alive

What if you learned that your child is gay or trans? Would you support him or her? Would you still love that person?

I bet many people in Western countries would say, yes, of course they would still love and support their children.

And I imagine that many religious people — say, Catholics and Jehovah’s Witnesses, for example — would still love their children even though their religions do not accept gay and trans people. Surely they wouldn’t want to see their child commit suicide because their churches didn’t approve.

But I wonder how many people have had the talk with their kids about this subject.

Probably not that many. I suspect it is one of those “we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it” subjects.
