When we recognise our interconnectedness and the fundamental dignity and equality of every human being, we help to build a world that is more accepting, secure and free. ~ President Obama

Angelique Zaki

angelique2Take a devoted wife and mother with a funky Bohemian style, mix in a frugal thrift store/Craigslist shopper, sprinkle in a Mother Earth mentality with a DIY attitude and you

will get a glimpse of Angelique Zaki. She lends comic relief to a situation one minute and provides spiritual advice, the next. It is not uncommon for her to dance through the office, belting out a fabulous rendition of a classic 80′s song. There is no job title broad enough to capture the many gifts and talents of this pint-sized powerhouse. With the motto “Anything is possible,” there is no stopping her either. Angelique truly embodies the Sheckler Foundation’s mission. The foundation is blessed to have her on staff.

skateboarding-smiley-emoticonRyan Sheckler and the Sheckler Foundation were the recipients of this year’s Eric Stricker Memorial Award; honoured on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the 18th Annual Transworld SKATEboarding Awards. The Eric Stricker Memorial Award, in memory of TWS editor Eric Stricker, sets out to honour groups or individuals in the skateboarding industry that have shown a continued dedication to the positive growth, longevity and love of skateboarding.

Founded in 2008, the Sheckler Foundation is an avenue for Ryan, his family, friends and business associates to empower people to be the change they want to see in their communities.

“Be the Change”

In 2012, we launched our “Be the Change” initiative. This web-based program allows our supporters to nominate the areas where they want to see change occur in the lives of children and injured action sports athletes. Then our entire network can vote for the cause they’d not only like to see win, but will support. We love that our supporters now have a voice and a platform that help guide our fundraising and giving.

The Sheckler Foundation will come along side the winner giving them a $10,000 grant and help make their plans a reality!
