Humanity Against Local Terrorism

Jamie PictureAfter an exhausting courtship of just over a month and a half I was lucky enough to marry my soul mate.  Yes, just a month and a half from the first moment we met to the exchanging of our vows, in my house with our friends and family, exactly twenty minutes into the New Year.  Some may call it my way of never forgetting our anniversary date, but I look more at it as fate.  You see I believe in the ‘Happily Ever After’ that Walt Disney sold me on with all of his adventures and stories when I was young. However, I did make sure that we renewed our vows ten years later in a church.  Again, some may see it as romantic but I see it as a way to take away any doubt that I had with her original ‘I do’s’.  You see, at the same time…

Plan Canada: Save A Life

The New B.P

People who do not respect those around them will not make good team members and probably lack self esteem themselves. ~ Pat Summit

Ndeyelou family2When we give to others it activates the areas of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection and trust. Altruistic behaviour releases endorphin’s in the brain and boosts happiness for us as well as the people we help.

Studies have shown that giving money away tends to make people happier than spending it on themselves. One way I found to increase my self worth, and to counteract all the negative issues that plague my personal life, the day I decided to research possibly getting involved in a sponsorship program act or a way to put some meaning back in my life, something positive to reflect on. So I decided to sponsor a child,Ndeyelou3which gave me a great satisfaction I never felt before, just to see the difference I…

Peel Manor “Home for Senior Citizens”

Bringing some not so forgotten posts to the front…cheers

The New B.P

It was 1998 and I was working full time as a custodian at “Grace United Church“, my hours were 2 pm to 10 pm Sunday to Thursday, I also worked part-time as a Janitor at Peel Manor (weekends, graveyard shift), Friday 11 pm to 7 am. I was in my late 30’s, 38 to be exact, I devoted myself to work, really there was nothing else in my life at that time that interested me more than my jobs, I spent most of my spare time volunteering at the church helping all the sweet little old ladies, and that they were very sweet, kind and great big hearts, they always made me feel special and I will never forget that moment in time. While working at “Peel Manor”, A Long Term Care Facility for seniors, 80 % of whom suffered from Alzheimer’s or Dementia, some wondered…

The Bully Effect

The New B.P

The Effect

The buuling EffectFindings from a UK-US collaborative study underline social problems faced by those exposed to bullying in childhood, reports Ruchi Chopda. A study led by professor Dieter Wolke of the University of Warwick and William E Copeland of Duke University Medical Centre, has shown that struggling to hold down a regular job and poor social relationships are some of the adverse outcomes faced in adulthood by those exposed to bullying in childhood. The research, the findings of which have been published in Psychological Science, looks beyond the study of victims to include all those affected — the victims , the bullies themselves and those who fall into both categories, namely, ‘bully victims.’
Bullying AwarenessAround 1,420 participants were assessed four to six times in the 9-16 years and 24-26 years age group as part of this study. Elaborates Wolke, “The participants were assessed with structured interviews as well as health assessments…

Meet The Archies

The New B.P

Now you might think this one off topic, not so, as it was one of my favourite animated TV programs from when I was a kid, it always brings a smile to my face 🙂 watching and remembering, it depicts how simple Television was back in the day, no computers or video games, just the basic technologies, not only was it entertaining but also educational for youth, such as this one episode “Archie’s Weird Mysteries – Twisted Youth”

A situation presents itself where as the adults drink magic water that make them young (Youth) again and the Archie gang have to grow up fast and be the responsible adults, and also serves as a break from the norm, I hope it least puts a smile on your face. The Archies are a fictional garage band founded by Archie Andrews, Reggie Mantle, and Jughead Jones, a group of…
