Nitty’s girlfriend, Tarika, told Thai media Woralop is such a good example that being kind really does pay off. When you’re kind to another, another is kind to you.

wallet1Even though this man was homeless and hungry, he turned in a designer wallet he found. In exchange, the owner gifted him a clapper2job and an apartment.

One’s true character is revealed when they are down on their luck and in a hard place. Fortunately, even when this 44-year-old formerly homeless man had only 9 baht (the equivalent of 25 cents USD) in his pockets, he felt compelled to do the right thing.

Metro relays that Waralop was wandering the city of Bangkok, Thailand, when he came across a designer Hermes wallet that had 20,000 baht ($579) and a number of credit man-main2cards in it.He could have used the money to purchase some food and comfort for the evening, but instead he walked to the local police station and turned it in. Reportedly, the owner of the wallet, 30-year-old Niity Pongkriangyos, hadn’t even noticed that it was missing.

When he learned that Waralop turned in his wallet, he quickly found the man and offered him a job in his Bangkok-based factory. In addition, Waralop was given an apartment to live in.

His new employer considered offering him a 2,000 baht reward, but instead decided that a new job that included packaged living accommodations would be better.

“I was totally surprised when the police told me they had my wallet as I didn’t even know I’d lost it. My first reaction was ‘wow’, if it was me in that position with no money I probably would have kept it. But he was homeless and had just a few coins in his pocket and still handed it in. That shows a good, honest person. Just the kind of staff we need.”

The kind man has been granted a fresh start for his honesty. And, he couldn’t be happier. He says: “I’m so grateful to be given this chance to turn my life around. Having a clean bed to sleep in makes me so happy now. I want to thank Nitty and Tarika for the kindness they have both shown to me.”

Parker County Inmates Save Jailer’s Life

inmates.jpg

“To see what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice.” ~ Confucius

After a guard suffered a heart attack, a group of inmates broke out of their cell to save his life.

mugshot-smiley-emoticonEspecially in recent weeks, it’s been difficult to escape from all the negative drama that’s playing out around the world. Luckily, faith in humanity has been restored countless times through the positive actions of strangers, which TrueActivist makes a point to relay, and is inspired once again by this story.

cheifAt a jailhouse in Parker Country, Texas, a group of inmates were awaiting court appearances when the officer guarding them suddenly fell over, unconscious, in his chair. Startled, they called for help. Unfortunately, no one answered.

They were aware that leaving their cell could result in harsher sentences, as well as possibly chuckie-rcmp3endanger their lives if police thought they were trying to escape,  but they chose to help the armed guard who had suffered a heart attack anyways.

WFAA News reports that the inmates threw their combined weight against the cell door and forced it open. 572320-tn_041Then, still handcuffed and shackled, they continued to yell for help as one of them grabbed the guard’s radio to ask for assistance. Police rushed into the holding room and corralled the inmates before realising the officer on guard was unconscious.

If the jailed individuals hadn’t risked their safety by breaking out of their cell, the guard would likely have died, state the officers. It would have been likely 15 minutes before the crisis received attention.

One of the inmates, Nick Kelton, told the press:

“It never crossed my mind not to help whether he’s got a gun or a badge. If he falls down, I’m gonna help him.”

jailOnce the medical emergency was acknowledged, police performed CPR until paramedics arrived with a defibrillator. Thankfully, the guard’s heart started beating once again and he was transferred to a hospital.

paris_is_free-1140This story has gone viral, not only because of the dramatic rescue, but also because it is proof that bad choices in life don’t define a person or their future choices. Good people make mistakes every day; in fact, it’s human to err.

Akon, Accomplishing More For Africa Than Most Have In Years

true2.jpg

He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life ~ MuhammaAli

Akon is gifting Africans solar power and providing them jobs in the process.

Platinum-certified star and five-time Grammy award nominee Akon, for just a single year, Untitled-1has done so much more for Africa than most charities have for decades – providing electricity for 600 households in the continent and in the process, being able to light up the land through affordable thumb_sunrenewable energy with the power of the sun.

Through the help of his partners, Senegalese political activist Thione Niang and Malian entrepreneur Samba Bathily – who happens to also be CEO of the solar energy company Solektra International, Akon was able to help African communities and combat the challenges that most Africans face in trying to secure energy for their respective homes.

Untitled-1In case you are not aware, obtaining electricity in Africa isn’t as easy as you’d think it might be. Every year, 3.5 million Africans die each year from inhaling toxic fuels and house fires that ensue while Africans try to light up their houses.

Thanks to Akon, solar energy provides Africa with a better and safer chuckie-cow2alternative, and because of Akon’s belief that this system would be better off if it was run by fully-trained African professionals, he was also able to create jobs there as well.

According to Akon’s charity, Akon Lighting Africa, a wide range of quality solar solutions are africa_emoticonsnow installed in 14 African countries. And, for the first time ever, a number of households, villages, communities, schools, and health centers that are located in rural areas are all now connected to electricityall thanks to Akon’s desire to make a difference.

“One thing I’ve realized about Africa is that only the organizations that involve Africans themselves are successful,” Akon said in an interview.

“A lot of corporations that come with their own policies and try and implement them in Africa fail horribly. The advantage we had is that all three founders are African, so we were able to navigate through each country a lot faster.”

Breaking: Nigerian Army Rescues 800+ Boko Haram Hostages

TRUE

“NO LOST OF LIFE IS EVER ACCEPTABLE BUT ONE UP FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS EVERYWHERE” ~ Terry.K

After fourteen girls and women were captured by Boko Haram, a massive raid in multiple villages resulted in over 800 hostages being rescued.

10303795_10152009152936890_1118008390810093458_nPositive news! The terrorist group known as Boko Haram may be ranked as the world’s deadliest terror group – according to the Global Terrorism Index (2015), but it recently lost a huge smileys-cz-7battle when over 800 hostages were freed.

The Guardian reports that last week, Nigerian troops liberated more than 800 people being held by the Islamist fighters in multiple villages in the country’s north-east territory. The army relayed that all the hostages were rescued in Borno state, with 520 recovered in Kusumma village after a confrontation with Boko Haram fighters took place. An additional 309 were rescued from 11 other villages under the militants’ control.

Said army spokesman Sani Usman in a statement:

“The gallant troops cleared the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists hibernating in Kala Balge general area.”
boko-haram-abductionsHe added that 22 “terrorists” were killed.

Reportedly, the raid took place the same day that Boko Haram abducted 16 women, including two girls, in a neighboring state.

smileys-cz-15“We received report of the kidnap of 14 women and two girls by gunmen believed to be Boko Haram insurgents near Sabon Garin Madagali village,” said Adamawa state police spokesman Othman Abubakar.

The females were seized in the bush while fetching firewood and fishing in a nearby river. They were under the escort of two civilian vigilantes assisting the military against the terrorist group but were abandoned when the escorts saw the Islamist insurgents and fled.waving-soldier

Such cowardice resulted in many of the women’s’ capture, but it spurred an assault that resulted in 800+ being freed. Because two ladies jumped into the river and pretended to drown, they were later able to return to their village and raise the alarm.

81969144Since Boko Haram launched an insurgency in 2009, thousands of women and young girls, including more than 200 schoolgirls, have been abducted. In addition, the group has killed over 20,000 people and is responsible for displacing more than 2.6 million people from their homes.

With regional forces (involving troops from Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Niger, and Benin) to soon deploy and fight the extremists, hopefully, more hostages will be soon liberated.
