“It was so precious for me to see people really change their mindset about the problems they face. That’s what I want for my people.” ~ Sarah Rogers, Elder and Cultural Support Worker, Inuvik

Part of being human is getting hurt. Sometimes we hurt others; sometimes others hurt us. We even hurt ourselves. Holding onto this hurt and allowing it to dictate the course of our lives can have negative long-term consequences. Forgiveness can change the shape of our journeys. It can release anger, fear, judgement and resentment, and open the door to peace and a positive future.

FULL CIRCLE offers customized forgiveness programs for hurt people and communities. We excel in creating safe, experiential opportunities for people of all ages to explore what forgiveness means—and doesn’t mean—in their lives.  We also consult with non-profits, employers, community groups and schools interested in restorative solutions to repairing harm and peace building.

Who We Are

foundersWe, Katy Hutchison and Shannon Moroney, have walked the difficult and complex paths to forgiveness in our own lives. Now we work together to help our clients do the same.

We are Canadian women affected by violent crime, best-selling authors, sought-after public speakers, and advocates of restorative justice. We are volunteers with Leave Out Violence (LOVE), members of the international Forgiveness Project and we share our stories around the world. We first partnered in 2009 to create the F-Word, an experiential workshop designed to give participants an opportunity to explore what Forgiveness means and its transformative potential for healing. Since then, we have brought our life-changing programs to diverse settings in communities around the world.

SHANNON MORONEY  was a teacher and counsellor when her husband kidnapped and boy orange3sexually assaulted two women in 2005. After personally discovering the lack of help available for families of criminals, and the vast ripple-effect of violent crime, she became a restorative justice advocate who speaks internationally on the topic.

In 2011, Shannon published her memoir Through the Glass, which became an instant national bestseller and was nominated for several awards, including the Governor General’s Award. In 2015, she co-produced “In Harm’s Way” for CBC Radio’s The Current. She lives in Toronto where she is remarried and the mother of twins.

KATY HUTCHISON was widowed and left with four year old twins following the murder of her husband in 1997. In meeting with the young man responsible, she learned that the only way through the trauma was by forgiveness and education.

Her memoir, Walking After Midnight (2006), was endorsed by the Dalai Lama and inspired Lifetime Network’s movie “Bond of Silence” (2010). Katy received the Me to We Social Action Award (2005) and was nominated for the Courage to Come Back award (2003). In 2013 she delivered a TEDx talk on rethinking education. Katy lives in Victoria. She speaks internationally on social responsibility & restorative justice issues.

Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it. ~  Martin Luther King, Jr.

who we arewelcome

harldIt may be easy to look around our world today and see the appearance of chaos, difficulty and strife. Yet, when we come from an open heart, we can also see our opportunity to love all 40bf5e4b21b3a2f75edc33f163d2b649things into balance, joy, harmony and peace. This planet does not need more visions of desperation, separation, fear, doubt, and hate – it requires an abundance of love, especially unconditional love, to heal and restore the beauty contained in every moment. This becomes the easier path once we take the first step and begin to share our love.

When we bring unconditional love back into our personal, professional, community and family lives, we begin the journey of restoring wholeness and happiness to our planetary adventure. Of course it takes determined effort on our part as the old, outmoded and limited ways of being are quick to return in our mind. However, this effort to love is rewarded with a new perspective on everything and all life benefits as a result.

81969144Here at The Love Foundation, whether through Global Love Day each May 1st, our annual Art, Essay and Poetry Invitational, Love Ambassador designations, or our newer programs, Love Begins With Me film project and All Nations Love/America Loves, each of these opportunities are simply ways to keep the understanding of love fresh in our collective hearts and minds.

We started this nonprofit organization in 2000 as a way to inspire and remind people of the simple, practical power of loving unconditionally. In just these few years, we have witnessed a growing worldwide momentum embracing this opportunity to bring the awareness of unconditional love back into our daily lives. We look forward to expanding this dialogue and encourage you to walk this journey of unconditional love in your part of the world.

On behalf of our global family of volunteers – welcome!

Love, light and peace,

All share in the Universal bond of love.
Love begins with self acceptance and forgiveness.
With respect and compassion we embrace diversity.
Together we make a difference through love.

When we come from this limitless love we naturally and easily embrace ourselves and our fellow humanity. Opening our heart, we allow unconditional love to be our guide and compassion to be our gift to life.

th_vn-emo-0022We invite you to celebrate with us by consciously focusing on love and what it means to you throughout this day. we celebrate

As we continue to connect with people and organizations around the world, we are amazed at how much is being done in efforts to positively assist humanity. There are so many wonderful people and associations that are actively working on behalf of a community, nation and even in global proportions.

smilie-love2As we often remind ourselves, what is presented by mainstream information sources is frequently a narrow and negative perspective of what is happening upon this planet right now. To the contrary, we see and know that good and right is occurring everywhere. Look for love and you will see it all around you.

This simple reminder changes the very nature of our experience. We are what we place our attention upon. When we allow love to be our focus of life, we expand this in our everyday activities. It is as simple as changing each perspective and allowing the negative and limiting views to be released and replaced by a higher, more loving understanding.

We appreciate and are grateful for the courage each of you express. In a world that has historically revered the negative and fear-based aspects, it takes strength to be and share love. It is time for love to become our common vision.

Please join us. Be a part of this global day by choosing love, compassion, peace, and unity. Share this information with your friends, relatives and coworkers. Love locally and spread it globally, continue reading more about Global Love Day»»»»»»

Love is All You Need?, small-heart based on the sensational viral short of the same name, tackles the topics of tolerance and bullying with a twist: in rainbowthis movie, gay is straight, straight is gay, and heterophobia is prevalent.

We’re honored to announce that in its first festival, Love is All You Need? small-heart won the Cinequest New Vision Award, which “pays homage to the director whose film best reflects the future.” Lexi DiBenedetto brings a best actress performance at the Sonoma International Film Festival.

sk8er-smiley-emoticonThis film delivers life of those who are ridiculed, teased and bullied for being themselves. Feel the sting by writers who lived life being bullied for choosing to be themselves. No gimmicky cliches, just raw emotion of living the live of a heterosexual in a gay world. How Would You Live If You Couldn’t Love?

Serving our Youth 2015: The Needs and Experiences of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Youth Experiencing Homelessness

news

Praise-You-nun-pray-saint-smiley-emoticon-000709-huge“The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.” *Mother Teresa*

Untitled-1

This report summarizes findings from the 2014 LGBTQ Homeless Youth Provider Survey, a survey of 138 youth homelessness human service agency providers conducted from March 2014 through June 2014 designed to better understand homelessness among LGBTQ youth. This report updates a similar report based on a survey conducted in 2011 (see the previous study).

storeThis new survey was designed to obtain greater detail on the similar and distinct experiences of sexual minority (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and questioning) and gender minority (transgender) youth experiencing homelessness.

This study highlights the need to further understand the differences in experiences between LGBTQ youth and non-LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness, as well as between cisgender LGBQ youth and transgender youth. The data suggest staff training, targeted programming, and an environment of inclusion have helped providers better serve LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness, yet, these strategies also appear to need further examination and evaluation.

Additional key findings include:

  • Housing was the number one need for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness, as identified by providers. Transition-related support was also identified as a critical need for transgender youth.
  • visage_de_smiley_darc_en_ciel_autocollant_rond-ra7f833b0e82744f5953ad8c2b6739b75_v9waf_8byvr_512

  • Transgender youth are estimated to have experienced bullying, family rejection, and physical and sexual abuse at higher rates than LGBQ youth.
  • Survey respondents cited staff qualities and characteristics, such as LGBTQ-inclusion and staff competencies, and program qualities, such as targeted programming for LGBTQ youth, as reasons for success in serving LGBTQ youth who are homeless. Many respondents also point to lack of training in serving LGBTQ needs as a barrier.

UN Releases New Report on LGBTI Rights

JUNE 2015 – ‪#‎PRIDE MONTH

un-fon

Just in time for ‪#‎Pride‬ month, United Nations Human Rights Office released report on graphics-smilies-369234discrimination based on sexual orientation. – Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

UNF-free-equalJust in time for Pride month, the United Nations Human Rights Office yesterday released a much-anticipated report on discrimination and violence against individuals based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Mandated by UN Human Rights Council, the UN’s top human rights organ, the report notes significant global advancement in protecting the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) persons since the UN’s first groundbreaking report on LGBTI violence and discrimination in 2011. Developed with inputs from across the UN human rights system, UN member states, and grassroots advocates, the report provides an update on the international LGBTI human rights landscape as well as lays out best practices “to overcome [LGBTI] violence and discrimination.”

6581111d1ad676dd8aa128c26a2d1578Positive developments in global LGBTI rights range from strengthening anti-discrimination laws to repealing criminal penalties for consensual same-sex relationships to expanded legal recognition for same-sex relationships. Among other examples of progress in the report, new “specialized hate crime prosecution units” in Brazil, Honduras, Mexico, and Spain, as well as a new national task force on LGBT-violence in South Africa are spotlighted.
On the other hand, the report notes much of this momentum is “overshadowed by continuing, serious, and widespread human rights violations perpetrated too often with impunity, against individuals based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.” It also highlights that “hate-motivated killings of LGBT individuals have been documented in all regions.”
Accordingly, the report offers 20 specific recommendation targeted to UN member states to address LGBTI violence and discrimination,

including:

Spock-spock-star-trek-smiley-emoticon-000554-medium

  • Repeal laws that criminalize consensual same-sex relationships and restrict LGBTI people’s right to freedom of expression;
  • Enact hate crime laws covering sexual orientation and gender identity;
  • Allow access to legal documents that take into account a person’s self-identified gender;
  • End so-called “conversion therapy,” targeted to LGBTI persons, and other abusive treatments; and Legally recognize same-sex relationships.

401891_10151390237591890_2040671388_nFinally, the report recommends that the UN Human Rights Council be “regularly informed” of patterns related to LGBTI violence and discrimination. This echoes the call of many human rights experts who have called on the Council to establish a new regularized reporting mandate on LGBTI human rights issues. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has also declared, “We need to document [homophobic violence and discrimination] and share information with States on a regular basis for discussion and action”
The report marks the latest in UN leadership to advance LGBTI human rights, including the recent release of the UN Free and Equal Campaign’s viral Faces video, marking the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

Our Purpose is to Heal

5639985105469440

28th August 2014 – By Jennifer Deisher – Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

There’s much going on right now. It’s easy to get caught up in the drama of it all. It’s easy to raise your hands to the Heavens and cry “Why?!?” or “Where are you, God?!?” Even if you’re awake and aware of the true nature of our being, these can be very stressful times. Even if you are one of the very fortunate people who understand that there is a Divine plan well under way, it is still a difficult time for humanity. We are all working very, very hard right now. It doesn’t matter if you are working on being awake or working on staying asleep (Yes, I see you “ego”), we’re all still just trying to work our way through the labyrinth of it all.

There are a great deal of atrocious acts being committed around the world right now, but the darkness always shows us where we need to find our Humanity, our Balance. Some of us are busy blaming other people for the tragedies that have happened of late. Some of us know that there are things that must happen for people to awaken and realign their souls to one another, the Earth (Gaia), God, and/or Spirit (depending on your unique expression). Some of us are questioning our faith. Some of us are certain we are on the “right” path to a new social paradigm, despite (or because of) the chaos in our world. Some of us are thinking “an eye for an eye” by advocating committing more atrocious acts to make up for the atrocious acts that have already been committed.

In all this confusion, it’s easy to forget why we’re here. Our purpose…

We Are One

What one thinks, we all think. We are each just one delicate piece of an intricate whole. What we do to another is what we do to ourselves. Our purpose – right here and now – is to heal. We are here to remember why we are here with each other and Mother Earth right now, at this divine time and place in our human history. We are here to heal ourselves and our Mother of our emotional and environmental scars, so that we can can evolve and flourish into a new paradigm. It doesn’t matter where you work, where you live, or how much money you make… It doesn’t matter what you believe or what “religion” you subscribe to… For there is only ONE true faith, and that is unconditional Love. In the end, we all want to live in peace and comfort, and we all want to love and be loved. It is the common thread that binds everything in the Universe.

We embrace our purpose of healing by healing ourselves first and foremost, and the way we heal is with Love. We heal one another by learning to trust and forgive with our hearts wide open. Through Love, we learn beyond measure that we are beautiful and valued. Through Love, we learn that everyone else we meet is also beautiful and valued. Through giving and accepting love, we heal ourselves. And through healing ourselves, we can increase the positive energy of Gaia’s morphological field.

But things become so “complicated” sometimes, although Spirit is actually quite simple. and in those times it does us all well to become, once again, grounded with Mother Earth. She whispers her answers in the wind. And she whispered to me today…

Healing the Trauma

There’s drama to get caught up in if we allow it. If you’re here, reading this, it’s most likely because you already feel the Shift in progress. It can make us anxious for others to feel it, understand it and embrace it as well. But, we don’t want this Shift to come about by way of trauma or tragedy. We see humanity walking an inevitable path toward enlightenment. We want peace, not war. I want happiness, not chaos. I want Love, not hate or fear.

For many of us, and I’m no exception, this sense of global chaos manifests as a deep-seeded trauma. And they are traumas! They cause many of us to feel fragmented and at times fearful. Even if we say we aren’t going to let it enter our emotional field, it still gets in. Particularly those of us who are empaths.

Personally, I was led to the ancient Hawaiian healing technique of ho’oponopono, and I knew that this was the simplest, most loving and spiritually conscious way that I could begin to heal from these latest traumas. . It recognizes that, as the human race, we are collectively responsible for the situation we find ourselves in and speaks of Accountability, no matter how indirectly. There are many other healing techniques that may also resonate for you. You may also like to read my previous article “Healing the Trauma Drama“.

If trauma is in your “field” at all, it is there for you to heal it. If it is in your emotional field then you are being divinely called upon to heal it. If it is in your mainstream news field, heal it. If you are in Syria, Russia, Gaza, Israel, the United States, or are caught up in their ‘war’ energy – heal it. If it is around you, within your energy field, it is there for you to heal. That is our purpose in this reality; to restore our energetic being to pristine consciousness, free of the energetic traumas that continue to feed the duality of our existence.

Humanity is rapidly evolving right now, in many ways but it’s not always possible to embrace it on a spiritual, genetic, social, and emotional level. We can’t always see it but we can feel it. We need to have emotional intelligence right now, and that can only be found within. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are a shining example of a Love that is so Divine it is beyond measure across the multiverse and *NOW* is when we are being called upon to apply it, to put our training and words into action – walk the walk, so to speak. Now is the time when we must come together – as one Humanity – and heal. We can send out vibrations of Love and rift the fragments of time into something beautiful and divine. We have that power. The power of unconditional Love. It’s the one thing that every single one of us has in common.

Everything you see and feel is a by-product of what we, humanity, together, have created. And if we consciously choose to, together, we can heal. If we do not, we continue to repeat the energetic cycles and will ever know what else is “out there”.

Together we can create Heaven on Earth, at one with Gaia and each other. It is our birthright. It is our beautiful future. It belongs to us. It starts with us. And it is simple…

  • I am divine. I am life. I am Love.
  • I am one with God, Gaia and Humanity.
  • I am healing me, healing you, healing me.
  • I am loving me, loving you, loving me.

10 Tips for Global Love Day!

Global Love DayWhat’s shared below is, of course, also relevant for ANY DAY, though shared at this time to encourage opening to and putting love in action on Global Love Day, May 1st. (Global Love Day was founded by Harold Becker of The Love Foundation, in 2004).

row-of-hearts

love1. Make an intention to ‘Be the Love’ – to commit to love in thought, word or deed, to be more mindful about if you are in your heart and coming from a place of love, and how you may return to that by focussing on loving thoughts and compassionate perspectives.

Tree_of_Love_Wall_Stickers2. Get together with; friends, family or work colleagues for a love gathering of some kind, coming together in the name of love with love as primary intention. Connect, love, laugh, share and enjoy. Sing, meditate, chat, eat, create. Whatever your hearts feel called to do.

68333. Share a gift of love with someone. It is not the nature of the gift or form the giving takes that matters as much as the love behind it. Your gift of love may be a card, an item, a donation to charity, flowers, a pay-it-forward gift, helping someone with your time, a poem, a dinner, etc.

05-f (2)4. Partake in random acts of kindness. Here are some examples: Buy a lottery ticket for a stranger, put some coins in someone else’s parking meter, walk your friend’s dog, compliment a stranger (sincerely), send someone a small gift anonymously, pay for the drinks on the next table at a café, etc.

hearts45. Do a meditation dedicated to love. You may want to light a candle to set the intention and work in whatever way feels right to you. Get in touch with the love in your heart for yourself, others and the world. You may want to begin with feeling gratitude and appreciation to yourself and those you love to open your heart to more love. Expand that love out and send it to those less close, associates, strangers, and the world at large. You can use the http://www.GlobalLoveMeditation.com that’s been recorded for this purpose.

images (1)6. Write an anonymous love letter; or note for a stranger to find addressed “To you, From Love” sharing words of unconditional love, as if writing it to yourself or someone you care about. Leave it on someone’s car windscreen, in a letter box, a tree or bush, amongst groceries in a store, etc. Visit http://www.globalloveletters.com for more details.

heart7. What can you let go of; that blocks love in your life? Who can you forgive? What grievance can you drop, fear relinquish, story drop? Consciously let go of that which doesn’t serve you and stands in the way of you being more of the love that you are and receiving the love that is there for you.

download8. Send love into the world. You may want to donate to a charity, see what cause you can support and how, or ponder on how you can personally be of help. You may want to do a meditation for world peace as another example. (A free streaming of the World Healing Meditation is available at http://www.worldhealingmeditation.com)

9. Witness the love; in each person you meet and bring love and kindness to each encounter.

10. Open to love and share your love generously with sincere expressions of love – be they words, hugs, listening, or simply your loving attentive presence.

Dose of Love

Dose of LoveQuote “You are loved, loving and loveable, ever and always.”

You are a magnificent being
with so much to offer the world!

You have a unique treasure trove of gifts, talents and potential inside you, and a heart so full of love with which to bless, heal and transform your world.

Allow yourself to experience the TRUE nature of your being!

Old wounds, traumas and beliefs can fracture your perception of self and the world and shroud the light within,
and the vastness of all that you are.

There’s no pot of gold at the end of some rainbow, but there is one INSIDE of YOU RIGHT NOW, and it’s the LOVE which holds the keys to all the abundance, success, happiness and joy
that you seek.

The Installation of Love!
Installing Love on the Human Computer…

Tech Support: Yes, how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I’ve decided to
install Love. Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I’m not very technical, but I think I’m ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support: What programs are running ?

Customer: Let’s see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ?

Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me
how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been
completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, “Error – Program not run on external components.” What should I do?

Tech Support: Don’t worry. It means that the Love program is set up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before
you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the “My Heart” directory. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming.
Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files.Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running.
One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you, Universe.

The Universe/Tech Support: You’re Welcome, Anytime.
Love and joy,

Every day we hear more stories about the struggles of LGBT people in Russia. While we remain dedicated to sending messages of hope to LGBT youth, we are thrilled to expand our reach further with a new initiative, “Вы прекрасны” (You are beautiful). This collection of videos brings together our affiliates and partners from nine countries in an effort to let youth in Russia know that they are beautiful, valued, important, and supported by people everywhere.

Right now in Russia, a law banning the “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations to minors” prevents the estimated 2.5 million LGBT youth in the country from receiving the support they need and the resources they require to live healthy and rewarding lives.
We hope the videos you watch today are the first of many more to come. We encourage you to add your own message to the collection and will do our best to translate your words of hope and strength into Russian. Together we can demonstrate solidarity on a global scale, giving lasting support to our young LGBT brothers and sisters in Russia during this difficult time.

Nothing Hurts Like The Words of The One You Love

Happy Valentine’s Day to the ladies in the house.

Barney Bentall and The Legendary Hearts – Reverting to his real name in 1984, Bentall, together with Guppy, Nairne, bassist Barry Muir, and keyboardist Cam Bowman, recorded demos produced by noted producer Bob Rock. In 1988, Bentall, Guppy, Nairne, Muir and Bowman, by then known as Barney Bentall & The Legendary Hearts, had a breakthrough when they landed a recording contract with Epic/CBS Records after releasing a video for “Something to Live For” on MuchMusic in 1987. The self-titled debut album, which featured three hit Canadian singles including “Something to Live For”, “House of Love (is Haunted)” and “Come Back to Me”, reached platinum status in Canada (100,000 records sold). After the record a musician named David Reimer joined the band. In 1989, the group won a Juno Award for “Most Promising Group of the Year”. In 1990, Bentall, Fraser and Nairne were nominated for a Genie Award for “Restless Dreamer”, a song they wrote which appeared on the soundtrack to the Sandy Wilson film American Boyfriends.
